Introduction to Hydrosphere Hydrocyclones for Mining
Hydraulic cyclones used in mining are separation devices that utilize centrifugal force fields to separate two-phase fluids, widely employed in the classification, concentration, dehydration, dewatering, separation, and washing processes of materials in black and non-ferrous metal mines, non-metallic mines, and chemical mines.
Principle of Operation for Hydraulic Cyclone in Mining
Slurry enters the hydrocyclone body under pressure, following a tangent or involute path (depending on the feeding method of the feed material) through the feed opening. Under the action of centrifugal force, large particles move downward with the outer vortex, resulting in coarse underflow product from the lower sediment outlet, while fine particles move upward with the inner vortex, yielding a fine overflow product from the upper overflow pipe.
