Sluice gates are differentiated by size, with large diameters referred to as sluice doors, utilizing electric and hydraulic actuators for operation, while small diameters are called sluice valves, predominantly using manual actuators. They are used in coke oven flues to block the flow of flue gas. The slabs are located outside the flue, thus avoiding corrosion from high-temperature flue gas and medium. This not only reduces resistance during the flow of flue gas within the flue but also ensures the longevity of the slabs.
The plug valve is primarily composed of components such as the frame, valve plate, screw rod, nut, and actuator. It operates by the actuator rotating the screw rod, which in turn drives the valve plate to move up and down horizontally repeatedly, achieving the purpose of opening and closing the valve.
Features of manual plug valve:
1. Manual plug valves are commonly used with discharging equipment or storage bins. These valves feature easy installation with flange connections and come in both square and round outlet options. Available in dozens of sizes based on diameter, they are used in industries such as waste incineration, steel mills, power plants, chemical plants, and construction materials.
2. The manual plug valve features a simple and compact structure, reasonable design, reliable sealing, easy and flexible operation, small size, smooth flow path, low resistance, easy installation and disassembly, lightweight and material-saving, low flow resistance, and light weight. 3. Manually operated plug valves should have their transmission parts regularly inspected and lubricated for maintenance during normal use.
Safety Precautions and Features of Electric Plug Valve Usage:
The actuating element of an electric plug valve is the valve plate, which moves perpendicular to the fluid direction. The plug valve can only be fully open or fully closed; it cannot be used for regulation or throttling.
The electric plug valve's valve plate has two sealing surfaces. The two sealing surfaces of the commonly used pattern plug valve form a wedge shape, with the wedge angle varying with the valve parameters, usually 50 degrees. The valve plate of the wedge plug valve can be made into a single piece, known as a rigid valve plate; or it can be made into a plate that can produce slight deformation to improve its processability and compensate for the deviations in the sealing surface angle during the manufacturing process. This type of valve plate is called an elastic valve plate.
The plug valve is sealed when closed by solely relying on the medium pressure, which pushes the sealing surface of the valve plate towards the opposite valve seat to ensure the sealing, known as self-sealing. Most plug valves use forced sealing, meaning external force is required to forcibly push the gate plate towards the valve seat to ensure the sealing integrity of the sealing surface.
