Insulating Castable Microsilica Product Details:
White Microsilica, for refractory materials, 96% SiO2 content, density 240-300 kg/m³, 20kg standard packaging.
The application principle of micro silicon powder in refractory materials:
Microsilica is a ultra-fine solid material. As a new raw material, it has been widely used in the refractory industry, playing a crucial role in improving the properties of refractory materials with irregular shapes. It fills the pores of refractory materials, enhancing volume density and reducing apparent porosity, significantly increasing strength. It possesses strong reactivity, forming colloidal particles in water. By adding a proper amount of dispersant, its fluidity can be improved, thereby enhancing the performance of casting materials. It has strong hydrophilicity, which strengthens the cohesion of refractory materials and significantly improves their high-temperature resistance, extending the service life of refractory products. It is extensively used in high-performance refractory castables and precast units, large-scale iron trough materials and ladle materials, permeable bricks, coating materials, self-flowing refractory castables, wet and dry spray processes, oxide-bonded silicon carbide products, corundum mullite slabs, high-temperature wear-resistant materials and products, corundum and ceramic products. Additionally, it has been expanded to varying degrees in the cement and construction materials industry.
The role of micronized silicon powder in refractory materials:
(1) Traditional refractory materials have numerous pores, with microsilica powder filling them, which enhances the bulk density and reduces the porosity, significantly increasing strength.
(2) Microsilica powder has strong activity, forming colloidal particles in water. Adding an appropriate dispersant can enhance its fluidity, thereby improving casting properties.
(3) Microsilica readily forms -Si-OH groups in water, exhibiting strong hydrophilicity and reactivity. It enhances the cohesiveness of refractory materials, significantly improves their high-temperature properties, and extends the service life of refractory products.
Microsilica is actually applied in the refractory industry in the following aspects:
(1) Substitute for pure aluminum oxide mud as refractory material.
(2) As an additive, it produces both amorphous and shaped refractory products, significantly improving their strength and high-temperature properties.
(3) Integrate setting agent for the overall casting of steel drum.
(4) Adhesives, binders, accelerators, and additives for other refractory products
