Silicon iron is widely used in the steelmaking, foundry, and other industrial productions.
Silicon iron is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, silicon iron is used for both precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. It also serves as an alloying agent. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel significantly enhances its strength, hardness, and elasticity, thereby improving the quality of the steel.
Silicon iron serves as a reducing agent in the iron alloy industry for producing low-carbon iron alloys. Adding silicon iron to cast iron can act as a nodularizing agent for nodular cast iron; it also prevents the formation of carbides, promotes the precipitation of graphite, and facilitates spheroidization; thereby improving the properties of cast iron.
