Variable-frequency generators are commonly categorized into three types:
By method of converted electrical energy classification
1.1 Electric generators can be divided into two main categories based on the method of electrical conversion: AC generators and DC generators.
1.2 The alternator is further divided into two types: synchronous generators and asynchronous generators. Synchronous generators are commonly used in modern power stations, while asynchronous generators are rarely used.
The alternator sets can be further divided into single-phase and three-phase models. The three-phase generators output 380V, while the single-phase generators output 220V.
1.3 The synchronous generators are further divided into two types: the hidden-pole synchronous generator and the salient-pole synchronous generator.
2. Classified by excitation method
Brush-type excitation generators and brushless excitation generators, divided by excitation methods.
Brushless excitation generators have an excitation method of self-excitation, while brush excitation generators use external excitation. The rectifying unit of the external excitation generator is on the stator of the generator, whereas for the self-excitation generator, the rectifying unit is on the rotor of the generator set.
3. By Drive Power Classification
There are various forms of power for generators, common power units include:
Wind Turbine Generator
Wind turbines generate electricity by harnessing wind to turn the generator, producing current; these generators do not require additional energy consumption and are pollution-free.
(2) Hydroelectric Generator
Hydroelectric generators utilize the drop in water flow to generate power, driving the generator to produce electricity. They are also equipment that harnesses green natural resources for power generation, also known as turbine generators.
(3) Fuel Generator
