Provide a loading platform suitable for your sample size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Short measurement stroke cannot meet the measurement needs of larger samples.
So far, the large load platform offers sufficient measurement travel in the X-axis direction, but the Y-axis travel remains limited. During measurement, it is necessary to compensate for the shorter Y-axis travel, which is shorter than the X-axis coverage, by rotating the sample. This approach is cumbersome, time-consuming, and inefficient.
Due to the limited measurable range, it is not possible to arrange a large number of samples on the specimen holder for simultaneous measurement in one go.
STM7 Olympus Tool Measurement Microscope Solution
There are four unique square measuring traverse platforms available for selection (50 mm x 50 mm, 100 mm x 100 mm, 200 mm x 200 mm, and 300 mm x 300 mm). Whether it's a large sample or a small one, there's always a platform that will fit your sample for measurement.
The clutch system allows for quick switching between coarse and fine adjustment. With this switching capability, the cargo platform can also be rapidly moved along the X and Y axes and freely navigate on the XY plane.
A 300mm square loading platform offers equal measurement travel in both the X and Y axes, allowing for the complete measurement of large samples such as 300mm wafers and printed circuit boards without rotating the sample.

Use the same microscope for low and high magnification observations
Frequently Asked Questions
Most traditional measuring microscopes can only measure objective lenses or metallographic objectives, failing to meet multiple observation requirements simultaneously.
STM7 Solutions
STM7 can utilize a measuring objective adapter for measurement objectives, and after switching to an objective changer, it can use metallographic objectives. This means that the STM7 combines both a metallographic optical system and a measurement optical system into one measuring microscope. In this manner, the STM7 series can accommodate and assist users in selecting the appropriate observation method for either large samples, fine samples, or samples with significant differences in surface height.
Objective lens measurement

Due to the long working distance of the measuring objective, there is no need to worry about contact between the objective and the sample when focusing on samples with significant surface undulations. Furthermore, the low magnification capability of the measuring objective allows for a wider field of view to be observed at once.
Metallographic Objective

Achieve high magnification and resolution observation capabilities comparable to optical microscopes. More importantly, it can also correspond to dark-field, polarized light, and differential interference observations, in addition to bright-field observation.
Manual and electric focusing frames are available for selection.
STM7 Olympus Tool Measurement Microscopes include both manual and electric focusing series.
Focus on control, offering both manual and electric options. Please select the model that meets your requirements based on the sample and measurement content, without considering the size of the loading platform. All frames are equipped with an integrated Z-axis linear scale, and all STM7 models are compatible with 3-axis measurement.
Manual Z-axis focus model

Manual Z-axis focusing models offer excellent cost-effectiveness—quickly move the Z-axis up and down by operating the widely used focusing knob, providing convenience for measuring samples of various heights.
Electric Z-axis Focus Model

Employing an electric focusing device significantly enhances operability and reduces operational fatigue during focusing and height measurement. The coaxial coarse and fine focus knob design allows users to operate in a manner similar to manual handling, while the motorized model can also be equipped with an automatic focusing unit.
A control unit with a breakthrough design significantly enhances the operability of the measuring microscope.
Frequently Asked Questions
Additional operational units are required for other functions. Operators cannot quickly locate the corresponding units, thereby significantly reducing measurement efficiency.
Numerous operational devices and power and control cabinets are scattered around the main unit, occupying valuable workspace.
STM7 Solution
Operation Device
For the STM7 series, a single operating device can perform nearly all measurement microscope operations, including resetting counters, lighting control, focusing, and automatic focusing. To enhance efficiency and convenience, you can place the device anywhere you prefer and operate it easily with one hand.
Control Box

Each unit's power and communication are integrated into a single control box. Even with optional features like focus navigation added, no additional power units are required. This design significantly reduces workspace occupancy. The light manager greatly enhances observation and measurement efficiency.
Frequently Asked Questions
The analog control method used in traditional measuring microscopes for adjusting light intensity cannot achieve quantitative control. As a result, the light intensity during each measurement cannot be consistent, leading to variations in measured values. When using traditional measuring microscopes, light intensity needs to be adjusted after each objective lens change, making the workflow highly inefficient.
STM7 Solution
Digitally displayable for quantitative control of light source brightness

The STM7's light intensity can be quantitatively displayed, ensuring observations and measurements are always conducted under the same conditions.
When switching the objective lens, no manual adjustment of light intensity is required.
The light intensity manager can be used in conjunction with the encoded objective lens turret. With the encoded objective lens turret, it can automatically identify the currently used objective lens. By combining this with the light source manager's preset function, lighting methods and light intensities can be registered for each objective lens. This allows for automatic adjustment of light intensity and lighting methods whenever an objective lens is switched, eliminating the need for manual light intensity adjustments as was previously required after each magnification change.

Detachable counter that can be placed anywhere for convenient use, ensuring quick and immediate checking of measurement results and equipment status.
Frequently Asked Questions
When checking equipment operation status such as lighting and measurement results, the process is very cumbersome due to the display being on different units.
STM7 Solution
Counter for clear and immediate confirmation of current status
The counter features an indicator light that displays the device's status and settings, allowing for simple confirmation of the current device settings. The smallest unit for the X, Y, and Z axes can be switched between 0.1 μm and 1 μm, and the display units can also be changed between millimeters, micrometers, inches, and mils. The removable counter, which can be freely placed to meet individual needs, can be installed on a mirror stand or placed on a workbench. The removable counter can be positioned according to the user's usage status and habits. When the user is standing to measure, the counter can be mounted on the side of the mirror stand at a height roughly the same as the observation position for easy viewing and result checking. When observing and measuring on the display using a digital camera, or when using an electric Z-axis focusing model, simply place the counter and the operating device on the workbench, and you can easily work while sitting in a chair.

The automatic focusing system boasts excellent repeatability, achieving faster, simpler, and more accurate height measurement.
Frequently Asked Questions
During visual measurements, different operators may obtain varying height readings. Additionally, this method is highly time-consuming and inefficient.
STM7 Solution
Superior repeatability, simplicity, and highly accurate focusing system. Olympus' focus navigation system achieves high-repeatability height measurements by projecting the pattern within the field of view, where the operator confirms the overlap of the top and bottom patterns. In contrast to ordinary visual observations for height measurements, even images that appear very clear and fully focused can exhibit minor errors. With the STM7 focus navigation system, measurements can be taken simply by matching the markers, thus minimizing the impact of the operator's subjectivity on the measurement results.
