Pyrolytic carbon black is a product generated through pyrolysis technology, and it is so named because of its distinct method of production compared to traditional carbon black manufacturing. The average particle size of pyrolytic carbon black is 40-50nm, with agglomerates similar to GPF carbon black. It stands out in its chemical and physical properties due to its ash content of 14±2%, primarily consisting of silicon dioxide, cobalt salts, and zinc compounds, which results in high crosslinking and diffusion capabilities. It exhibits similar reinforcing effects to N550 (tensile strength), similar modulus values to N772 (specific tensile stress), similar tear strength to N330, and similar reinforcing effects to N660. As a result, pyrolytic carbon black, in rubber formulations, not only serves as an effective filler and reinforcing agent but also improves the even dispersion of carbon black in compounded rubber, enhancing the processing properties of semi-finished rubber products. Therefore, pyrolytic carbon black is applied in formulations for inner and outer cord adhesives, side walls, inner liner adhesives, and inner tube adhesives in nylon bias-ply tires without altering the other additives in the original formula. It can replace conventional carbon blacks like N550/N772 with 20-30 parts by mass without affecting the quality of the finished tire. Furthermore, pyrolytic carbon black is widely used in rubber products such as cables, tapes, seals, and roller tires.
