Oleaceae Ligustrum, evergreen trees. Subtropical species. Commonly used ornamental trees. Also known as holly. Mainly distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui, Shandong, Sichuan-Guizhou, Hunan-Hubei, Guangdong-Guangxi, Fujian, etc. Dense branches and leaves, regular tree shape, suitable for solitary planting or group planting in courtyards, as avenue trees, green hedges, etc. Propagation by sowing, cutting, and layering. Leaves can be distilled to extract holly oil, used as additives in sweets and toothpaste. Flowering period: May to July, fruiting period: July to May of the following year.
