Diesel Generator Power Issue

The primary power of diesel generator sets, also known as continuous power or rated power, is commonly referred to as such in China. However, internationally, the standby power, also known as high power, is used to identify diesel generator sets.

Diesel generator sets in our country are rated by their rated power, which is the continuous power. A high-power generator set that can operate continuously for 24 hours is referred to as continuous power. During a certain period, the standard allows for a 10% overload on the continuous power for one hour every 12 hours. This power level is what we commonly call high power or standby power. In other words, if you purchase a 400kW main power generator set, you can operate at 440kW for one hour every 12 hours. If you buy a 400kW standby power generator set and run it at 400kW without overload, it is actually operating in an overloaded state, which is very detrimental to the generator set and will shorten its lifespan and increase the likelihood of malfunctions.
